Up-Sell

Definition:

A way to get customers to buy upgraded products when they were intending to purchase a less expensive product.

Examples:

By pricing the small box of popcorn high, the movie theatre up-sells their larger boxes by making the customers believe they’re getting a bargain.

That salesman is very good at up-selling the walk-in clients so that they walk out with a more expensive stereo system than they had planned on buying.
