FOB

Definition:

Acronym standing for “Free On Board,” which indicates that the seller of an item will pay for the shipping costs as far as the port. This always refers to the cost of shipping by boat, and is followed by the name of the port city.

Examples:

That box was labeled “FOB London” but needed to be delivered to the customer in France, so the customer had to pay the freight charges across the Channel.

When working with customers in the United States, make sure that you specify that the seller will only cover the FOB shipping charges to the transport ship, and that they need to make arrangements to pick up the cargo on arrival.
